Depending on the wood I used, I finish all my woodenware with either walnut oil, linseed oil, or a blend of tung and orange oils.
All these oils cure to provide a durable antibacterial and water-resistant finish that will last for years.
If your wooden utensil shows signs of wear and drying out, simply rub with walnut, linseed, coconut, or tung oil. Avoid peanut oil, which will not cure, and olive oil, which will turn rancid.
Please hand wash and towel dry your utensil. Never put woodenware in the dishwasher.
